The British Standards Institution (BSI) has published an updated version of their Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV) Vocabulary.

An essential resource for insurers, regulators, legislators, manufacturers, developers and consumers,   BSI Flex 1890 defines CAV related terms, abbreviations, and acronyms, focusing on those pertaining to vehicles and associated technologies.  The vocabulary provides a consistent, reliable set of terms and definitions relating to connectivity and automation of roadgoing, land-based vehicles and their users.

Update v4.0 includes several new definitions, including:

  • Remote operation
  • Object and event detection and response
  • Full trip feature
  • Place of relative safety
  • Remote monitoring
  • Remote vehicle assistance
