Level Five Supplies is thrilled to announce its partnership with Applus IDIADA as a provider of ADAS and CAV products. A leading international engineering company, Applus IDIADA provides design, testing, engineering and homologation services tailored to the automotive industry. Founded in 1971, the company has over 25 years of history and a global workforce of more than 2,500.
Applus IDIADA’s advanced processing is vital to the ongoing research and development of autonomous vehicle technologies. Fully independent of any vehicle manufacturer, its main office near Barcelona includes a 360-hectare proving ground and test facility complex.
“Applus IDIADA is well known across Europe for its world-class engineering and testing expertise, extending from its base in Spain to its facilities all over the world”, said Alex Lawrence-Berkeley, CEO of Level Five Supplies. “It’s a privilege to be able to represent a groundbreaking new product from an organisation with such a strong engineering heritage, particularly their UK team, located near Cambridge.”
Level Five is an official supplier of IDAPT: a multi-purpose OBU development tool that assists with CAV prototyping. The platform has been developed specifically to answer some challenging questions posed by autonomous vehicles, including dealing with sensor fusion, artificial intelligence and combining those with high levels of data through flow, low latency and ease of use for researchers.
Applus IDIADA is using the platform on the Innovate UK-funded MuCCA autonomous vehicle research project, based at Bruntingthorpe proving-ground, and has deployed multiple units to existing customer projects in the UK and at its other engineering facilities around Europe.
“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Level Five Supplies as the official distributor of the IDAPT platform tool,” said David Price, Innovation & Technology Manager of Applus IDIADA UK. “The team at Level Five has an excellent understanding of the technology requirements across the sector. CEO Alex Lawrence-Berkeley and his team are ideally placed to promote the benefits of the IDAPT platform for a wide variety of automotive and automation applications, including ADAS, vehicle connectivity, autonomous driving, robotics and industrial automation.
We look forward to a long and productive relationship and are optimistic about seeing IDAPT becoming a platform tool of choice for many connectivity and automation research projects in the future.”
Level Five Supplies is proud to be working with a company with such a strong history of innovation in its field. Applus IDIADA is currently building a new test area for connected and automated vehicle development that will allow the simulation of any scenario related to testing CAV systems. We can’t wait to see what they produce next.
