Updated: new dates announced

Starting in April this year, Level Five Supplies is pleased to be able to offer two new specialist LiDAR training courses, designed to help participants understand the fundamentals of digital 3D technology. The early stages of LiDAR integration can be a tricky process—our courses provide the ideal combination of theory and practice to show you how to get started.

The first set of courses will now take place in September 2020: Tuesday 15 September – Basic course, Wednesday 16 & Thursday 17 September – Intermediate course.

Basic and intermediate levels

Our basic one-day course is aimed at project managers, junior technicians, non-technical analysts, consultants and decision-makers looking to understand the fundamentals of LiDAR—its applications, limitations, and industries. Our two-day intermediate course follows on from this to provide product engineers, software engineers, technicians, developers, technical consultants and researchers with the practical skills needed to gather, interpret and analyse the accuracy and usefulness of 3D LiDAR data.

Save £50 when you sign up for our combined course that covers all three days.

Facilitating a new generation of innovators

“This is a brand new course to help companies, many of whom are or will become our customers, understand the capabilities of high-resolution LiDAR,” explains Alex Lawrence-Berkeley, CEO at Level Five Supplies. “LiDAR has been used for decades, but with the revolution in artificial intelligence and the plummeting price of high-performance systems offering high-resolution spatial measurement at a fraction of the cost of what it’s been for many years, a new generation of innovators, researchers and technology companies can now access and exploit this fantastic sensor technology.”

“With these brand new training courses, we are excited to offer a variety of opportunities for a range of technical and non-technical attendees, in a multitude of industry sectors, from research and academia to product development, surveying and robotics.”

Book early to avoid disappointment

The courses will be delivered by Dr. Rebecca Bennett—a leading expert in LiDAR point cloud processing—and Alexey Simonov, an experienced innovator and roboticist. Each course is limited to 10 places, so early booking is essential. Make the most of our early bird booking rate until 17 July 2020.

“I’m excited to bring my experience of running courses for professionals into partnership with Alexey and the Level Five team,” says course instructor Rebecca Bennett. “I specialise in airborne LiDAR surveys and the processing and dissemination of landscape-scale point cloud data, and look forward to bringing this perspective to bear alongside the robotics and automotive experience of the team.”

“So many training courses focus only on sharing information via presentations, but our tried and trusted training method combines all the theory participants need with lots of practical exercises. This gives them a wealth of first-hand experience in the systems and software so that they can hit the ground running when it comes to integrating the data into their own workflows. It really is a winning formula.”

The courses will take place at the Stanton House Hotel in Swindon and start from £250 + VAT per person. Lunch and refreshments are included—overnight accommodation must be booked separately.
