Surround View Camera

Multi-camera surround view camera systems capture and display the area surrounding the car in a single integrated view on a display in the dashboard, typically to aid parking.

Can consist of between 4 and 8 cameras mounted on the vehicle bumpers, wheel arches, wing struts or wing mirrors, front windscreen, vehicle registration plate – and stitched together by computer software.

Smaller numbers of cameras can be used if wide-angle lenses (such as fish-eye) and higher resolution sensors are inserted, as distortion can be corrected by the integrated vision processor without any latency.

Greater number of cameras may be used to protect against device failure or if other cameras have dedicated functions.
